Bagmara is a upazila of Rajshahi district in the division of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Bagmara upazila was established in 1983. Bagmara upazila is a glorious place in terms of history and tradition of Rajshahi, the northern district of Bangladesh. This area of the district was previously forest-jungle. Because the forest-jungle was full of dangerous tigers, a person killed a tiger by hitting it with a stick. The name of the upazila was "Baghmara". Before the naming of Bagmara, Taher Bhuiyan, one of the Bar Bhuiyans of Bengal, came to the region and the name "Taherpur" was popularized by the people after his name. Bagmara is one of the largest upazila of Rajshahi district, Bangladesh. Atrai and Manda upazilas of Naogaon district are located to the northside of Bagmara upazila, Puthia and Durgapur upazilas to the southside, Sadar and Atrai upazilas of Natore district to the eastside and Manda and Mohanpur upazilas to the westside.Another upazila of Rajshahi district: Bagha, Paba, Durgapur, Charghat, Tanore, Godagari, Mohanpur, Puthia Upazila
